07/02/2014 - The Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona will host this weekend, the latest rounds of the SuperEnduro and X-Trial World Championships, and the Gas Gas riders await with great anticipation to be racing "at home". Barcelona will be the two wheels center on this Sunday, February 9th with the celebration of World SuperEnduro and World Championships X-Trial, which will take place on the same stage: the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, (Palace of Saint George) one of the Olympic jewels of Barcelona. In the top class inside this enclosed venue, the Gas Gas team has a good number of representatives, who are candidates for the top positions in the final standings. The Girona brand has six official riders in the different genres, all of these home riders will be piloting the Spanish bikes.
This 15th edition of the Enduro Indoor of Barcelona is the fifth round of the World SuperEnduro Championship, and Gas Gas has a large representation, led by Dani Gibert, currently ranked fifth in the provisional championship, and the author of the spectacular start, found the podium in the first two rounds and won one of the three finals in the second round of the series, in Lodz (Poland).
And Gibert, eager for Barcelona with much to gain, will be joined by new members of the Gas Gas extreme team, Melcior Faja and Dani Oliveras, plus one of the new riders on the Enduro team, Oriol Mena.
Gas Gas will also have several riders in the special promotional category, The Solo Moto Off Road Challenge, including Xavi Subirana, already having occupied a podium position in the 2013 edition of this race.
Adam Raga, going for the victory in X-Trial
The Gas Gas rider Adam Raga is one of the regulars on the podium of the Trial Indoor of Barcelona and this year hopes to climb to the top. The last time he won in the Palau Sant Jordi was in 2008, this was his fifth win in the "home" race. On this occasion, the 37th edition of the Barcelona Trial Indoor, and third round of the new X-Trial World Championship, presentation also with an exciting new regulation taking place. After a preliminary test and final selection of riders who advance to the semifinal, where these four riders will contest for the final victory in only 5 zones (sections) and where the previous scores are erased and these finalists depart equally into this final shoot-out.
In addition to Adam Raga, who was classified in fifth at Sheffield (UK) and second in a close final in Marseille (France), will also take part in the event with the young Jorge Casales, the Junior World Champion. Casales is ranked in seventh position after obtaining eighth in the English Test and a seventh in France.
The event at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona will start at 17:00 hours for the public, but in the morning it will have training and qualifying for SuperEnduro and X-Trial. The events are scheduled to end on approximately 20:30.
